Uhhhh I'm Ryan.  Not really anyone of significance.  You'll be interested to know it took me four attempts to spell 'significance' the first time, and two attempts the second time.

I'm a British bloke who thinks that Canada needs far more rain, and far less snow.

I've become increasingly disappointed with nature - I've come to realise that there is simply NO USE for the cold temperatures that Canada gets.  Nature made a BIG mistake there.

Prevention of forest fires? That's what we have rain for!

So... next on the agenda?  Ratify the Kyoto Protocol, recommit to the Kelowna accord, and lastly... make Canada adhere to the United Nations ruling: http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/c_coloni.htm

Oh and stop depending on the United States for defence, and increase the Canadian Forces military expenditure by about $12billion per year!

sure, sure, more rain, more snow, it's all good

not sure about the defence spending Ryan ...

I'm Michael, one of the editors for the main site.  My background is in Social Anthropology with a thematic focus on applied ecological anthropology and a geographical focus on southern Africa (my undergraduate was in African Studies and my PhD research was in Zimbabwe).  Now i am working with First Nations on research and land use planning issues.  My research interests can usually be found resting in the commons so the more common space there is, the more at ease my mind can be.

I'm not going to tell you about my family or my garden so that's it.

Hi all,

I'm Nathan. I'm currently working on a PhD in natural resources management at the University of Manitoba. My work is related to the study of the commons (http://www.iascp.org). My research has taken me to the community of Pikangikum in northwestern Ontario. I'm interested in the study of cultural landscapes because it's good to think with as it relates to the study of commons institutions and human organization on the landscape.

...Add to that a nerdy obsession with photography and you've pretty much got me.
